Jesse J. Stine, 78, of Pottsville, passed away Thursday at his residence.
Jesse was born in Cleversburg, Jan. 30, 1938, a son of the late William J. Stine and Kathryn E. Durf.
He was the husband of Donna M. Flenders Stine, whom he married May 6, 1978.
He graduated from Shippensburg High School, Class of 1955, and served in the Navy upon graduation.
He began his career as an agent for Allstate Insurance and also worked for Interstate Securities. He then began his banking career, which included First Pennsylvania Bank, Pennsylvania National Bank, Keystone Financial, where he was executive vice president in charge of Commercial Lending. He retired in 2001 shortly after the merger with M&T Bank.
He was the treasurer of Harrisburg YMCA, Pottsville Rotary and the former Pottsville Club. He was on the board of directors for the former Pottsville Hospital and Warne Clinic, Associate Board of Directors of M&T Bank and Board of Directors of Schuylkill Country Club.
He was preceded in death by son, Jesse J., in 1997, and grandson, Zachary Stout, in 2013.
In addition to his wife, Donna, he is survived by a daughter, Shelia Konnick, and son-in-law, John Konnick, Ocala, Fla.; grandson, Cody Stouffer, Shippensburg; brothers- and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, great-nephew and great-nieces.
A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven, with certified celebrant Caitlyn Ebling officiating. A viewing for family and friends will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of the donor's choice.
