Calvin T. Smith, 78, of Orwigsburg, passed away Saturday with his family by his side at Seton Manor, also surrounded by their wonderful and caring staff.
Born in Brownsville, Dec. 14, 1936, he was the husband of Betty L. Moyer Smith.
He was formerly employed by Chestnut Operating Co., Reading.
Calvin was preceded in death by a son, Dee Basom.
In addition to his wife, Calvin is survived by daughters Frances Ann, wife of Gordon, Florida, Virginia Horst, wife of Robert, Coudersport, Linda Phillips, Cressona, and Jodie Mintzer, wife of Jeffrey, Orwigsburg; grandchildren, Scott Lake, Rachel and Robert Horst Jr., Jennifer McGovern, Brian and Phillip Long, Angelique Keith, Jacquelin and Nathan Sites, Jason, Seth & Logan Basom, Sean and Shane Mintzer, and Madison Reinert; 24 great-grandchildren; brothers, Herbie, Charles and Richard Smith; a sister, Shirley Strunk, all of Robesonia.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at The Lighthouse Church, Orwigsburg, with the Rev. William Orf and Pastor Jim Shields officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 p.m. until the time of the service at the church Thursday.
