Catherine R. Whalen, 97, of Orwigsburg, formerly of Landingville passed away Sunday, December 11th, at Orwigsburg Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Catherine was born in Duncott, on May 12, 1925, a daughter of the late Catherine (Rosetta) and William Brensinger and a step mother Vesta Dinger Brensinger.
She was the widow of Francis R. Whalen who died in 1985.
Catherine was a fun loving, hard working and caring person. She was devoted to her family and friends and enjoyed making everyone smile with her stories, poems or jokes.
She worked for thirty years as a button hole machine operator for Onyx Blouse Co. in Orwigsburg retiring in 1985.
She was a long time member of Faith United Church of Christ in Landingville.
Throughout her life, Catherine had many different interests including crocheting beautiful pot holders treasured by her family family & friends, playing cards and dancing and clapping along to polka music.
Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren & great grandchildren.
Catherine is survived by a daughter, Nancy, wife of Dave Ulsh, of Schuylkill Haven, a son, David, husband of Cathleen Whalen, of Virginia;
She is also survived by two grandchildren Michelle Kelly wife of Brian Glen Rock and Kevin Ulsh husband of Marki-Lynn of Auburn, three great grandchildren Michael, Claire and Isaac all of Glen Rock, numerous nieces and nephews and cousins a sister Mae Stutzman of Deer Lake and a stepbrother William Brensinger of Montana
Services are private at the convenience of family from Geschwindt Stabingas Funeral Home, Inc in Schuylkill Haven, PA with Pastor Glenn Rarick officiating, burial in Zions Red Church Cemetery Orwigsburg.
