Claire R. Bowman, 88, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Friday, November 2nd, peacefully, at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg.
Claire was born in Schuylkill Haven on July 27, 1930, a daughter of the late Evelyn R. (Weber) and Ralph Bowman.
She was employed as an administrative assistant at Pennsylvania National Bank, Schuylkill Haven, until she retired in 1995.
Claire was a member of First United Methodist Church, Schuylkill Haven. Claire served for 21 years as the church's treasurer. She also served as the junior choir director, taught Sunday School to children, and served on the church's administrative board. Additionally, she volunteered with UNICEF, sang with the Schuylkill County Choral Society, sang with the Cressona Band, and was the treasurer for the Schuylkill Haven service unit of the Salvation Army. Claire was a trained opera singer who had the opportunity to move to New York. Instead of moving to New York to pursue her singing career, she chose to remain in the Schuylkill Haven area to sing praises to her Lord.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 10, beginning at 12 PM at First United Methodist Church, Schuylkill Haven, with Rev. Dr. Christopher Fisher officiating.
Memorial contributions may be sent to First United Methodist Church 420 Saylor Street Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972. If making a memorial contribution in Claire's memory, please note in the memo portion of the check that the donation is to be made to the choir.
Interment will be held at a later date at Union Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.
