Colleen (Thompson) Dewald

Colleen Thompson DeWald, 92, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Monday, July 4th, at Providence Place Retirement Community, Pottsville.
Born in Tower City, PA on February 15, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Joseph & Kathryn (Ritzman) Thompson.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Samuel E. Dewald, granddaughter, Caitlin McGarry, and siblings: Gary Thompson, & Joan Kimmel.
Colleen was a graduate of Tower City High School, and Ford School of Business.
She worked as an administrative assistant for Indiantown Gap, Annville; and retired from Blue Mountain School District as secretary to the superintendent.
Colleen was a member of First United Methodist Church, Pottsville, where she sang in the choir. She also sang with the Golden Girls. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Schuylkill Haven Senior Citizens group, and the Exerettes.
Colleen is survived by three daughters: Crystal, wife of Robert McGarry, Schuylkill Haven, Tricia, wife of Mike Sanchez, Orwigsburg, & Deb, wife of Bruce Kaplan, of Macungie, four grandchildren: Madison, & Lexi Sanchez, Kyle McGarry, & Mel Kaplan, sister-in-law, Nancy Thompson, nieces, nephews, & cousins.
A combined Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Sam & Colleen will be held at 1 PM on Friday, July 8th at First United Methodist Church, Pottsville with Rev. John Wallace officiating. A viewing will be held at the church from 12 Noon until the time of service.
Interment at Indiantown Gap Naitonal Cemetery, Annville, will be held at the family's convenience.
At the family's request, donations in Colleen's memory may be forwarded to First United Methodist Church 330 W. Market St., Pottsville, PA 17901.
