Doris Y. Mahon, 92, of Pine Grove, passed away Monday at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street.
Born in Minersville, July 25, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Hilda M. Kuhns Yoder.
She was the widow of Frank J. Mahon, who passed away in 2000.
Doris was a graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School and Hahneman Medical School, Philadelphia, where she received a degree in hematology.
She had a 27 year career as supervisor of the Hematology Center at Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital, Washington D.C.
Doris was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Tremont, now Most Blessed Trinity Roman Catholic Church.
She also belonged to the Early American Decoration Society, Philadelphia, Sweet Arrow Lake Conservation Association and Pine Grove Historical Society.
In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was also preceded in death by her sister, Rita Tucker.
Doris is survived by two daughters; Lynne M. Mahon, Pine Grove, and Shelley L. Wooldridge, Standardsville, Va.; four grandchildren, Jason Lynne Bass, Kelsey Mahon, and McKayla and Loni Wooldridge; two nephews, David and Robert Tucker.
Honoring Doris' request, a private committal service will be held. At the family's request, memorial donations may be sent to Sweet Arrow Lake Conservation Association, 1206 Ag Center Drive, Pottsville, PA 17901.
