Doris D. Popovich, 92, formerly of Schuylkill Haven, PA, currently of Clayton, NC, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 14th, at Johnston Healthcare, Smithfield, NC.
Born in Schuylkill Haven on August 20, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Howard Paul & Almeda Rebecca (Kauterman) Dornsife.
She was the widow of GeorgePopovich, who passed away October 26, 2004.
In addition to her parents and husband, Doris is also preceded in death by her sisters: Arlene Gilbert, Elaine Margavage, & Jean Reber.
Doris was a graduate of Prospect Park High School, Pennsylvania, Class of 1945.
She retired from the former New Jersey Bell, currently AT&T in 1985 after working as a programmer analyst.
Doris was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Doris issurvived by three sons: Theodore Popovich, of Lake Havasu City, AZ; Kenneth Popovich & wife, Carol, of Howell, NJ; and Matthew Popovich & wife, Rose Marie, of Pittsburgh, PA, and a daughter, Doris V. Popovich, of Clayton, NC.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Cheryl Contard, Craig, Timothy, Ryan, & Ian Popovich, Kristy Gooding, & Jared McNally, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, PA at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19th, with Rev. Msgr. Edward S. Zemanik officiating.
A viewing will be held Tuesday from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. prior to mass in the church's chapel.
Interment will follow mass at Cressona Cemetery, Cressona, PA.
