Earl G. “Buddy” Hoffman, Jr., 86, of North Manheim Township, went to rest in the arms of Jesus on Thursday, March 10th, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born in Gordon, PA on September 23, 1929, he was a son of the late Earl G. Hoffman, Sr. and the Rev. Mildred G. (Cresswell) Hoffman.
He was the husband of E. Virginia (Files) Hoffman, for 64+ years.
Mr. Hoffman was a 1947 graduate of Schuylkill Haven Area High School and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a founder, builder and charter member of the Church of The Nazarene, Schuylkill Haven; a consistent witness for Jesus, not wanting anyone he met to miss heaven; and was the owner and operator of Hoffman’s Gulf service station where you got a lot more than gas for over 40 years.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Hoffman is also survived by a son, Steven Hoffman & wife, Virginia, Seaford, DE; two daughters, Patricia wife of Rev. Robert Berry, Schuylkill Haven, and Penny wife of Galen Feveryear, Narvon, PA, , a sister, Mildred Hoffman, Schuylkill Haven, as well as five grandchildren: Steven Hoffman, Scott Hoffman [wife Tanesha], Spencer Berry, Brianna Okerblom [husband Davin] & Megan Feveryear, five great-grandchildren: Isabella, Aydan, Chase, Morgan, and Reese, and many nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters: Rev. Rose M. Hoffman & Marion Tolbard.
A viewing will be held at the Church of The Nazarene on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at the Church of The Nazarene, Schuylkill Haven, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 14th, with Rev. Robert Berry officiating. An additional time for viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
Interment will be privately held at the family’s convenience at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
