E. Helen Schwartz, 97, formerly of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Friday at Luther Ridge at Seiders Hill, Pottsville.
Born in Port Carbon, Jan. 18, 1919, she was a daughter of the late George E. and Ethel D. Hawkins Valentine.
Helen had been employed by the former Rest Haven, Schuylkill Haven, as the assistant director of medical records.
She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Schuylkill Haven. She was also a member of Ladies of the Elks and Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, both of Pottsville, Schuylkill Haven Senior Citizens, Robert E. Baker Post 38 American Legion Auxiliary, and Eastern Star Chapter 317, all of Schuylkill Haven, and Order of the Amaranth Inc., Reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reynold M. Schwartz; son-in-law, Stephen Albert.
Helen is survived by two daughters, Linda S. Light and her husband, Larry, Barnesville, and Brenda L. Schwartz, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two grandsons, David F. Jablonski and his wife, Adrienne Nash, Los Alamos, N.M., and Brent R. Light, California; two great-grandchildren, Marek and Claudia Jablonski, New Mexico.
A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ebling-Stabingas Funeral Home, 26 Chestnut St., Cressona, with the Rev. Jeffrey Funk officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be privately held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
