Elizabeth G. "Betty" (Grandi) Spotts

October 1, 1927 — January 22, 2017

Elizabeth G. (Betty) Spotts, 89, Pottsville, was welcomed into heaven, Sunday, January 22nd, at Golden Living Center – York Terrace Nursing Home, Pottsville, surrounded by her family.

Born in Port Carbon on October 1, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Maria (Sandri) and Fred Grandi and was the wife of Norman R. Spotts Sr., for 67 years.

Betty was a member of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, PA. She was a graduate of St. Stephen’s High School, Port Carbon. She was very proud to have worked for Bell Telephone as an operator. After working for Thomas Walleisa Draperies, Pottsville, for several years, she started her own drapery business known as Betty Spotts’s Draperies. Betty will be remembered for her craftsmanship. Her legacy lives on in the Adoration Chapel of St. Patrick’s Church, Pottsville, as evident in the draperies and altar cloths.

Betty was the last survivor of 9 children. She was preceded in death by a son, Martin Spotts, who passed away February 13th, 1965.

In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by her children: Richard Spotts (Linda), Auburn; Judith Davis (Henry), Pottsville; Norman Spotts Jr. (Deborah), Auburn; Lisa Jones, (Rick), Tamaqua and Maria Glore, (Michael), Pottsville. She was blessed with grandchildren: Melissa Spotts, Michele Spotts, Nicole McMurtrie, Timothy Davis, Norman Spotts III, Nicholas Spotts, Alexa Hauer, Ricky Jones, Kaitlyn Glore, Kenneth Glore and great grandchildren: Jackson, Titus & Boden McMurtrie and Bryson Davis; nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 25th, Monsignor Edward J. O’Connor officiating. There will be no viewing hours and interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick’s Memorial Fund, 319 Mahantongo Street, Pottsville, PA 17901.

Betty’s family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff at Golden Living Center – York Terrace, Pottsville, for their exceptional care and compassion.
