Born in Auburn, Feb. 6, 1940, she was a daughter of the late John Miller and Mable Herring.
She was preceded in death by her companion of 20 years, Francis Bowers.
Elsie was employed by the former Pottsville Hospital as a housekeeper.
She is survived by two sons, John Shive Sr. and his fiancee, Kim Hoffman, Landingville, and William Henry Shive, Palo Alto; a grandson, John Shive Jr., Pine Grove; sisters, Myrtle, Yonkers, N.Y., Louise, Schuylkill Haven, Joann, Honesdale, Betty Lou, Olyphant, and Nancy, Hamburg; and brothers, Jesse, Hamburg, and Ray, Plattsburg, N.Y.
Service and interment will be privately held at the family's convenience. At the family's request, memorial donations may be sent to Hillside SPCA, P.O. Box 233, Pottsville, PA 17901.
