Elva M. Guertler, 97, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Saturday at her residence.
Born in Saint Clair, Jan. 26, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Arthur J. and Mildred Jenkins Rhoads.
She was the widow of Franklin W. Guertler, who died in 1976.
A graduate of Saint Clair High School, Class of 1935, she was a homemaker most of her life.
Elva was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church, Schuylkill Haven.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Margaret Martin Rhoads; brothers, Howard C. and James Clarence Rhoads; a half brother, Arthur "Jimmy" Rhoads.
Elva is survived by a daughter, Linda Guertler, Schuylkill Haven; a sister, Elizabeth F. "Libby" Palmer, Arizona; cousins; nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven, with the Rev. William Parrish officiating. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 215 E. Main St., Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972, or Covenant Home Care Hospice, 1223 Pottsville Pike, Shoemakersville, PA 19555. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.
