Francis E. "Ted" Allar, 74, of North Manheim Township, passed away Wednesday, January 25th, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Schuylkill, E. Norwegian St., Pottsville.
Born in Pottsville on January 9, 1943, he was a son of the late Francis W. & Claire C. (Brennan) Allar.
He was the husband of Mary Lou (Shebakis) Allar, to whom he was married 53 years.
Ted was a 1960 graduate of Tremont High School and received a Bachelor's and Master's Degree of Education from Kutztown University, graduating in 1967.
He had been employed as an educator for 30 years, having worked for both Springford and Blue Mountain School Districts.
Ted served in the U.S. Air Force and the Pennsylvania National Guard, Pine Grove Unit.
He was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, and also belonged to the Hidden Valley Senior Golf League.
In addition to his wife, Ted is also survived by three daughters; Amy Farr & husband, Mike, Lake Wynonah, Gretchen Tokonitz & husband, Ed, Richland, NC, and Francine Bensinger & husband, Terry, Schuylkill Haven, and a son,Mike Allar & wife, Theresa, Orwigsburg, as well as grandchildren; Ashley, Nikki, & Amanda Farr, Adam & Aidan Tokonitz, Anthea & Sydney Allar, & Madison Bensinger, and great-grandson, Jaxson Allar, two brothers, William Allar, Tremont, and Jack Allar, Bellefonte, PA, several nieces & nephews, and his beloved Bichon, Lucy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 28th, with Rev. Msgr. Edward S. Zemanik officiating.
There will be no public viewing or calling hours.
Interment with military honors will follow mass at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
Family requests donations in Ted's memory be sent to St. Ambrose Church Memorial Fund, 201 Randel Street, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.
