Francis J. Burns, 96, of Pottsville, passed away Friday at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg.
Born in Pottsville, April 1, 1918, he was a son of the late Francis E. and Louise Reith Burns.
Francis was a graduate of Pottsville High School and was employed as a quality assurance manager for Alcoa for 44 years. He was also involved in the start-up of Cressona Aluminum.
Francis was a 4th Degree member and a past grand knight with the Knights of Columbus. He received the God and Country Award for 4th Degree Knights in 1976.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.
Francis loved playing bridge, playing golf and traveling.
In addition to his parents, Francis was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Mary L. Connell Burns, who passed away Oct. 15, 2014; and brother, Robert Burns.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Bausch and her husband, Frederick T., Pottsville; grandchildren, F. Jesse Bausch and his wife, Donna, Richmond, Va., Rebecca Bausch Burns and her husband, David, Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., and Adam J. Bausch and his wife, Jill Bosack, Tampa, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Max, Jacob Francis and Lenore Bausch and Maddox and Elijah Burns; two sisters, Mary L. Ebling, Woodlyn, and Dorothy Lotz and her husband, Leo, Pottsville; a brother, Charles R. Burns and his wife, Virginia, Naples, Fla.; and a sister-in-law, Betty Burns, Media.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg, with the Rev. David L. Loeper officiating.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the nursing home.
Interment will be held privately.
