Fred Alan Richardson Jr., 68, of Pottsville, passed away Saturday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, Bethlehem.
Fred was born in Pottsville, on July 3, 1948, a son of the late Fred A. Sr. and Florence A. Killian Richardson.
He was a member of First United Church of Christ, Schuylkill Haven.
He served in the Army as a sergeant and was formerly employed by North Schuylkill School District as an elementary art teacher.
Fred was a graduate of Blue Mountain High School, Class of 1966. He then graduated from Kutztown University in 1970 with his bachelors, and then attained his master's degree.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Sam and Irene Killian, and paternal grandfather, Jefferson Richardson.
Fred is survived by a son, Jesse S. Richardson, Orwigsburg; a daughter, Amber R. Richardson, Pine Grove; a grandson; a sister, Deborah McCormick, wife of Don, Schuylkill Haven; nieces, Rebecca E. Hillje and Michelle D. Dougherty; a nephew, Jeff L. McCormick.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at First United Church of Christ, Schuylkill Haven, with the Rev. Shawn VanDyke officiating. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
