Georgene E. (Rushanan) Moyer

June 1, 1944 — June 11, 2018

Georgene E. Moyer, 74, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Monday at Orwigsburg Center, Orwigsburg.

Born in Pottsville, June 1, 1944, she was a daughter of the late George and Agnes Simikitus Rushanan. She was the widow of David E. Moyer, who passed away Dec. 13, 2016.

Georgene was a 1962 graduate of Minersville High School, a 1966 graduate of Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, and a 1979 graduate of Penn State University, where she received an engineering degree.

She was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, and also belonged to Lithuanian Club. Georgene was the owner of the former Pretti Me Store, Minersville. She was also previously employed as a registered nurse for the former Good Samaritan Hospital, and Fitzgerald Hospital. She had worked as a nuclear pipe stress analyst for Gilbert Commonwealth.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Ronald and George Rushanan.

Georgene is survived by a son, David G. Moyer, Bear, Del.; a beautiful, wonderful granddaughter, Amanda; two sisters, Elizabeth Kavanaugh, wife of Pat, Branchdale, and Donna Berns, Philadelphia; a brother, Robert Rushanan, Pottsville; nieces and nephews.

A Catholic Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Monday at the church. Interment will immediately follow Mass at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. The family requests donations in Georgene's memory to Hillside SPCA, P.O. Box 233 Pottsville, PA 17901.
