Jack Edward Dillon, 62, of Auburn, PA, passed away on Sunday, December 12th, at his residence.
Born in Silver Spring, MD on November 2, 1959, Jack was the son of the late Virginia (Greene) and Thomas C. Dillon of Montgomery Village, MD.
A 1978 graduate of Spring Valley High School in Columbia, SC, Jack served his country for four years in the U.S. Navy, including a deployment aboard the USS America CV-66. Jack served on the flight deck as the America steamed through the Suez Canal, the first "super carrier" to transit the canal since 1967. The America then operated in the Indian Ocean where ports of call included Singapore and Fremantle, Australia.
Upon discharge, Jack realized his childhood dream of becoming a truck driver. Jack felt strongly that his vocation as a truck driver was an extension of his service to the country in that our service men and women, as well as his fellow truck drivers, regularly miss holiday meals with their families in their duties to protect and provide for their fellow American citizens.
He continued to work in the trucking and logistics industry for 35+ years, most recently with Meade Trucking Co., Inc., where he traveled the highways and byways of the beautiful country he loved so much. Jack also loved his trucking family greatly, and was always available to help a fellow driver in need.
He is survived by his beloved companion of sixteen years, Lori Swift, (daughter Desiree, and granddaughter Addelyn); sisters Carol Dillon Ehart (Tom) and Susan Dillon Feudale (Tony); nieces and nephews Calli, Gabriella, Judah, Lily, Micah and Lucy.
Services and interment will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2022 at 10:30 a.m.at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 18230 Barnesville Rd., Barnesville, MD, 20838.
