James R. Gauss, 74, of Friedensburg, passed away Tuesday, January 17th, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Schuylkill, E. Norwegian St., Pottsville.
James was born in Cressona, on March 19, 1942, a son of the late Marion (Bittle) and Marvin Gauss.
He was the widower of Marilyn J. (Stephens) Gauss, who passed away in 2012.
Jim was a 1960 graduate of Blue Mountain High School. He was a member of St. John's Reformed Church, Friedensburg, Beckville Gun Club and the Cressona American Legion.
He served in the U.S. Army as a SP4 in the Vietnam War.
He was formerly employed by Baymore Pet Feeds as store manager and the former Cressona Aluminum in the store room.
Jim is survived by his daughter Nancy Umbenhaur wife of Kenneth, Schuylkill Haven and their children Makenzie and Owen Umbenhaur, as well as his sister Sally Henry wife of Tom, CT and sisters in law Charlene Thorton and Janice Miklesavage; nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at Ebling-Stabingas Funeral Home, Cressona, on Saturday, January 21, 2016 at 10:30 am with Rev. Michael Smith officiating.
A viewing for family and friends will be held prior from 9:30 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be held at Cressona Cemetery, Cressona.
