James H. Gilbert Jr., 87, of Cressona, passed away Saturday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown.
Born in Pottsville, July 24, 1928, he was a son of the late James H. Gilbert Sr. and Martha Herb Gilbert.
He was the husband of Marna F. Mutschler Gilbert, to whom he was married 65 years.
Jim was a graduate of Cressona High School and was former co-owner of Gilbert Paving.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Summer Hill, Auburn, a life member of Beckville Fish and Game Association, Cressona, Mill Run Camp, Lycoming County, Goodwill Hose Company, Cressona and Friedensburg Fish and Game.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, L. Daniel, Billy, Cy, Riley and Kenneth Gilbert; two sisters, Thelma Miller and Beatrice Ditzler.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by three daughters, Cindy, wife of Jerry Reed, Winfield, Patti, wife of Lamar Freeman, Schuylkill Haven, and Wanda, Maui, Hawaii; a son, Kurt, husband of Karen Gilbert, Schuylkill Haven; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Services will be private and at the convenience of family.
