Jean E. Geary, 81, of Schuylkill Haven, died Friday at her residence while in the company of family members.
Born in Cressona, Aug, 18, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Esther V. Strauch Spitler.
She was the wife of Leonard E. "Red" Geary, to whom she was married 61 years.
Jean was a graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School, Class of 1951.
She retired from Blue Mountain School District, having worked in the cafeteria.
She enjoyed sports, cooking, cards of any sort, especially Pinochle, and family.
Jean was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Schuylkill Haven.
Jean was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, William, Francis and David; and three sisters, Ann McMullen, Loretta Howell and Patricia Spitler.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three daughters, Karen Yoder, Summit Station; Sallie, wife of Stephen Sandler, Schuylkill Haven, and Sandie Geary, married to Lynn Walker, Harrisburg; a son, Keith "Butch" Geary and fiancee, Gemma Haas, Pine Grove; grandchildren, Kevin Geary, Cindie Burke, Joshua Yoder, Lacy Yoder and Sam Walker; a sister, Nancy Menaugh, Auburn; a brother, Richard Spitler, Orwigsburg; and a joyous bunch of nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven, with the Rev. Janet Lewis officiating. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. At the family's request, memorial donations may be sent to St. John's United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, 121 E. Main St., P.O. Box 118, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
