Jeffrey “Jeff” Jay Davis, 67, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away April 6th at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Schuylkill E. Norwegian Street, Pottsville after battling a lengthy illness.
Jeff was born June 22, 1955 in Allentown, the son of the late Howell and Dorothy Davis.
Jeff was a graduate of William Allen High School in Allentown and attended what was then Millersville State College, now Millersville University.
Jeff worked for Rothrock Chrysler-Dodge in Allentown for many years, where he met and sold a car to the woman who would become his wife of 35 years, Margaret “Peggy” Davis of Schuylkill Haven. After their marriage, Jeff worked as production man- ager of the letter shop at Jetson Direct Mail in Saint Clair and Hamburg.
Jeff loved his canine “sons” Barney, Buddy and Baxter and they were a familiar sight in Schuylkill Haven, logging many miles on walks together.
A man of diverse interests, Jeff was an avid collector and was often found at an- tiques buyer/seller events and yard sales. Among his collections were history and first edition books, antique banks, military books and old weapons, and Flintstone, Garfield and Simpsons memorabilia.
Jeff was a movie aficionado and TV fan, enjoying old comedies, such as the Marx Brothers, Three Stooges and Get Smart, as well as Casablanca and Star Wars.
An avid reader, Jeff’s favorite author was Clive Cussler, of whose books he had an extensive collection, along with military history books.
Jeff was a 20-year cancer survivor, and volunteered for the Pottsville Relay for Life, which his wife co-chaired for more than 20 years.
In addition to his wife, Jeff is survived by his brothers Ronald Davis (Unok) of Bethlehem and Keith Davis (Jeanine) of Coplay, sister Karen Rosato of Coplay, his niece Samantha Davis of Phoenix, Arizona and great-nieces and nephews.
Jeff was preceded in death by his brother Craig Davis and his sister Darlene Davis Bender, as well as his parents.
Those wishing to honor Jeff are invited to make donations in his name to their favorite animal rescue organizations or the Schuylkill Haven Public Library.
The family wishes to thank all the dear friends, neighbors and healthcare workers who helped and supported Jeff during his extended illness.
