Jerome H. "Humpy" Zimmerman, 65, of Pottsville, passed away Wednesday, August 27th at home.
Born in Pottsville, June 14, 1949, he was a son of the late Ray M. and Elizabeth McGoey Zimmerman.
He was the husband of Doreen E. Dierwechter Zimmerman.
A graduate of Nativity BVM High School, he was a proud veteran of the Army, 1st Infantry division.
Jerry was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven.
He worked as the steward for Robert E. Baker American Legion Post 38, Schuylkill Haven, for 38 years. Jerry also served on the color guard and as a past commander for American Legion. He was also a member of the VFW.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Kyle Ray Zimmerman, Pottsville; stepdaughter, Terre Renninger and husband, Richard; two stepsons, Danial Bashore and Gerald Bashore and his wife, Brenda, all of Schuylkill Haven; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; sister, Joanne Gusso and husband, Phil, Minnesota, and twin sister, Mary Zimmerman, Schuylkill Haven; brother, Denny Zimmerman and wife, Judy, Lancaster; stepbrother, George Honyara, Florida; and his dog, Maxfli.
A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 30th at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., 25 E. Main St., Schuylkill Haven, with the Rev. Bob Reiley officiating. A viewing will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be privately held at the family's convenience.
