Joan M. Zemanik, 92, formerly of Tamaqua, passed away Friday, November 17 at Lehigh Valley Medical Center, Allentown.
Born in Tamaqua on September 30, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Joseph J. & Julia (Trackim) Urban.
She was the widow of Edward S. Zemanik.
In addition to her parents and husband, Joan is also preceded in death by all four of her sisters: Frances, Regina, Anna Mae, & Mary.
She was a 1949 graduate of St. Jerome's Catholic High School, Tamaqua.
Joan was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven.
She had served on CWEA for St. Jerome's School.
Joan enjoyed taking care of her beloved garden.
She was formerly employed by Bell Telephone as an operator, as well as Tamaqua High School in the cafeteria.
Joan is survived by three sons: Rev. Monsignor Edward Zemanik, Schuylkill Haven, Robert Zemanik, Port Carbon, & Thomas Zemanik, Allentown, three grandchildren: Kristine Yanett, Thomas Zemanik, Jr. USAF (RET), & Matthew Zemanik, and two great-grandchildren: Levi Zemanik, & Landen Yanett.
A viewing will be held Friday, November 24th from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, with Rev. Msgr. Edward S. Zemanik officiating.
Private interment will be held at St. Jerome's Catholic Cemetery, Tamaqua.
At the family's request, memorial donations may be sent to St. Jerome's Regional School, to help fund great-grandson, Landen Yanett's education. Checks should include "In memory of Joan Zemanik" on the memo line, and may be mailed to 50 Meadow Ave. Tamaqua, PA 18252, or St. Ambrose Memorial Fund, 201 Randel St., Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.
