Joanna (Minnig) Freed

May 20, 1956 — December 14, 2014

Joanna Freed, 58, of North Manheim Township, passed away Sunday at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street.

Born in Pottsville, May 20, 1956, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Mary Gottschall Minnig.

She was the wife of Curtis L. Freed.

Joanna was a graduate of Nativity BVM High School, and was of the Catholic faith.

She was employed by Atlantic Track & Turnout as a secretary.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Ann Marie Minnig.

In addition to her husband, Joanna is survived by two sons, Michael Freed, Shenandoah Heights and Bryan Freed, at home; five sisters, Mary Ellen Brennan and her husband, Norbert, Patty Heckman, widow of Michael, and Kathy Minnig, all of Branchdale, Tina Fink and her husband, Jamie, Hamburg and Lisa Muff, widow of Tom, Easton; two brothers, Henry Minnig, Pottsville and Jack Minnig and his wife, Martina, Pottsville; two sisters-in-law, Cyndi McCarthy, Schuylkill Haven and Leslie Freed, Arizona; mother- and father-in-law, Lee and Joyce Freed, Orwigsburg; godson, Norbert Brennan, North Manheim Township; nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., 25 E. Main St., Schuylkill Haven.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held Saturday, December 27th, at 11:00 a.m. at Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Schuylkill Haven.

At the family's request, memorial donations in Joanna's name may be sent to the Matt Ginther Scholarship Fund, 133 Kiehners Road, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.
