Jon R. Fisher Sr., 89, of Orwigsburg, passed away Feb. 28 at Renaissance Home Pinebrook, Orwigsburg.
Born Nov. 15, 1934, in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Hiram L. Fisher Jr. and Marian H. (Repp) Fisher.
He married his wife, Anne L. (Geary) Fisher, in 1960.
Jon was a graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School, Class of 1952. He attended Kutztown State Teachers School and graduated in 1956 from Ford Business School, Pottsville, with an accounting degree.
He was employed as the office manager of Ebinger Iron Works; assistant business manager for Muhlenberg School District; business manager for Brandywine Heights and Tulpehocken school districts; and retired as the business manager for Fleetwood School District.
Jon was an active member of First United Church of Christ, Schuylkill Haven, where he served as church treasurer for 14 years and sang in the choir. Jon also served on the consistory, including two terms as president.
He also belonged to the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and served on the Schuylkill Haven school board for eight years, including four years as vice president. Jon was a member of the Schuylkill Haven Lions Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Fisher.
In addition to his wife, Jon is survived by his son, Jon R. Fisher Jr., husband of Penny, Perkasie, Pa.; daughter, Jill G. Cutter, Reading; grandchildren, Carolyn Bausch, wife of Jonathan, Ian Fisher and Jaime and Erin Cutter; great-grandsons, Luke and Micah Bausch; and a brother, Thomas Fisher, Lake Wynonah.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, at First United Church of Christ, Schuylkill Haven. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Private interment will be held in Cressona Cemetery, Cressona. At the family's request, memorial donations in Jon's memory may be sent to Hillside SPCA, P.O. Box 233, Pottsville, PA 17901.
