Joseph L. "Butch" Luckenbill, 70, a resident of Providence Place, passed away Wednesday at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg.
Born in Cumbola, March 27, 1947, he was the only child of the late Landis and Sue Bunyak Luckenbill.
Butchie and his mother loved attending St. Nicholas Ukranian Catholic Church, Saint Clair, where he had been baptized and confirmed. He and his father also regularly attended Reedsville Evangelical Congregational Church.
He enjoyed going to work everyday with his father at the former Pottsville Hospital, where he was employed as a painter. Butchie also worked with the Avenues and the UCP Workshop.
Butchie loved the Luckenbill family reunions at Stone Mountain Manor Resort. He and his father were known for bringing small bottles of A-Treat soda and Butchie would ask his family members, "What color do you want?"
He is survived by uncles, aunts, and many cousins who loved him dearly.
A Celebration of Life funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., 25 E. Main St., Schuylkill Haven, with Pastor Mark Brooks officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Reedsville Cemetery.
