Josephine M. Durant, 81, formerly of Hondo, Texas, who most recently resided with her son, Dennis, in Port Carbon, passed away Tuesday at Rosewood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Schuylkill Haven, surrounded by family.
Born in Saint Clair, Nov. 7, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Hupka Kalyan. Josephine was the widow of Richard Durant, who passed away in 2004.
She served in the Navy and was employed as a seamstress at local factories in Saint Clair and Port Carbon.
She was a member of the St. Clair of Assisi Church and a former member of the Immaculate Conception Church and the ICC Rosary Altar Society. She was also a former member of the Lone Star Corral, Alamo Area Skp Co-op, Hondo.
Josephine is survived by sons, Richard Durant, husband of Carole, Anchorage, Alaska, and Dennis Durant, husband of Mary Ann, Port Carbon; grandchildren, Stephen, husband of Stephanie Lynn Durant, Stephanie Durant and fiance, Daniel Tovsen, all of Anchorage, and Michael Durant, Port Carbon.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. today in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Family and friends will gather at the office at the cemetery at 2:45 p.m.
