June H. Bensinger, 88, of Orwigsburg, formerly of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Thursday, March 30th, at Orwigsburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Pottsville on October 12th, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Hannah A. (Troutman) and Harry E. Boyer.

June was the widow of Arlo J. Bensinger, Sr. to whom she was married for 21 years.

After graduating from Schuylkill Haven High School in 1952, June was employed at the Schuylkill Haven Trust Company as a Trust Officer from 1952 to 1966, After a brief hiatus to raise her children she re-entered the workforce in 1974 as the accountant for The Call, which was later renamed South Schuylkill Printing and Publishing. In addition to handling finances, she wrote a weekly column called Harriet B. Housewife, as well as illustrating cartoons for the paper. She retired from South Schuylkill Printing and Publishing in 2009. June continued her passion for writing using social media and had a large following on Facebook. She supplied numerous articles and memories to Richard Nagle's Schuylkill Haven Historical Society Facebook Page and The Schuylkill County page. Most recently she started a daily Facebook post called "From Room 127B" highlighting her experiences at Orwigsburg Center.

June was a former officer of the BPW, Schuylkill Haven, a member of the American Institute of Bankers, the Channel 12 Lollipoppers and was an officer of SHHS Band Aides and a Cub Scout den mother. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church where she was a nursery Sunday school teacher and later a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church.

An avid lover of all animals, especially cats, June enjoyed her many pets over the years, collecting cat and mice sculptures, commenting on current events and drawing cartoons.

June lived in Port Clinton until 1944 when she moved to Schuylkill Haven where she remained until moving to Orwigsburg Center in June 2022. She loved her home on Paxson Avenue and enjoyed meeting and greeting her neighbors while sitting outside on her front porch. She also enjoyed attending her class of 1952 class reunions and was a regular attendee until recent health challenges prevented her attendance. Once she moved to Orwigsburg Center she became active in all the resident activities including morning exercise, coffee klatches, bingo and resident council meetings.
