Karl Jay Lyons, 78, of Humble, TX, passed away Thursday, December 10th, at Houston Methodist Hospital, Houston, TX.
Born in Pottsville, PA on October 23, 1942, he was the son of the late Dr. Ralph & Arlene Mae (Schwenk) Lyons.
He was a graduate of Blue Mountain High School, and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Franklin & Marshall College.
Mr. Lyons was introduced to the concept of forged seamless reinforced nozzles used in pressure vessels fabrication when he began working for Lenape Forge in Lenape, PA. His impressive career in the industry began when he established FVC in 1976, serving as president for 11 years. He established Forged Components, Inc. in 1997, and was known as "the King of long weld necks" premier manufacturer of pressure vessel components.
He is survived by two sons: Karl Jay Lyons II, fiance of Patricia Walsh; Chad J. Lyons, husband of Eneysa, all of Humble, TX, and two grandchildren: Angus, & Declan. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lyons is also preceded in death by his aunt, Ruth Naomi Schwenk.
A graveside service will be conducted at Cressona Cemetery, Cressona, PA, on January 6th at 10 am.
