Lewis R. Hoy, Sr.

December 12, 1931 — April 25, 2015

Lewis R. Hoy Sr., 83, of Pine Grove, passed away Saturday at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg.

Lewis was born in Schuylkill Haven, Dec. 12, 1931, a son of the late Edward and Anna Yeich Hoy.

He was the widower of Janet Tobin Hoy.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He worked at the former Alcoa as a truck driver and he retired as an instructor for the Air National Guard the 201 Red Horse Unit at Fort Indiantown Gap.

He served 28 years in both the Army and Air Force. He retired as a tech sergeant, heavy equipment operator and instructor, receiving many ribbons and oak leak clusters.

He was a member of the VFW and American Legion, both of Pine Grove.

Lewis was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Tobin Hoy, on April 29, 1999, and a brother, Charles Hoy, in 1985.

Lewis is survived by three sons, Lewis R. Hoy Jr., Auburn, and Ronald L. Hoyand Richard A. Hoy, both of Pine Grove; four grandchildren, Tracy, wife of Scott Lang, Auburn, Michael Hoy, Deer Lake, Craig Hoy, Pine Grove, and Shawn Hoy, Camp Hill; a great-grandson, Austin Boyer, Auburn; a niece; nephews.

A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven. Family and friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
