Lyle H. Augustine, 86, of Pottsville, passed away Saturday, November 14th, at Hershey Medical Center.

Born in Pottsville on August 29, 1929, he was a son of the late James & Alverna (Kroh) Augustine.

He was the loving husband of Jeanette (Reigel) Augustine.  They celebrated 59 years of marriage on October 6th.

Lyle was a graduate of Pottsville High School, Class of 1948 and proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard in the Korean War.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville.

Lyle was also a member of the Pottsville Elks, Deer Lake & West End Hose Companies, Masonic Pulaski Lodge No. 216, charter member of the Pottsville AMVETS, the Reading Shriners, past master of the Pottsville Masons, and a past member of Tall Cedars.

He was inducted into the Pottsville Sports Hall of Fame in 1995 and was also inducted into the PA State Sports Hall of Fame.  Lyle established Midget Football in Pottsville and coached the Tornadoes.  He played on the South team in 1947 Dream Game. He was also a musician and song writer.

He was the owner of Tri County Glass & Mirror, Pottsville and Maden Ford Springs, Pottsville.  He was previously employed by Case Glass, Reading.

Lyle is survived by two daughters, Kathy Augustine-Pomian & husband, David, Orwigsburg, Pamela Heffner & husband, William, Pottsville, as well as step -grandchildren, nieces, nephews, & cousins.

In addition to his parents, Lyle is also preceded in death by his sisters: Martha Augustine & Barbara Scharadin, and brothers: James & Clarence Augustine.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 20th with Rev. Chris Rothharpt officiating.

A viewing will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Interment will follow the funeral service at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

At the family’s request, donations in Lyle’s memory may be sent to Paralyzed Veterans of America, 801 18th St. NW, Washington DC, 20006.
