Marion Emma (Haldeman) Geary

June 25, 1934 — October 11, 2018

Marion Emma Haldeman Geary, 84, of Wayne Township, passed away Thursday at Lehigh Valley Medical Center, Allentown.

Born in Wayne Township, June 25, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Lillie Stump Haldeman.

Marion was a 1951 graduate of the former Cressona High School. She earned her Bachelor's of Science Degree in elementary education from Elizabethtown College in 1955.

In addition to helping her pastor husband, Carl D. Geary, at the churches he served for 41 years, Marion taught elementary school for one year full time in York, and later was employed as a substitute teacher throughout the Greater Central PA area.

Upon her husband's retirement in the spring of 1996, the couple returned to Wayne Township, and resided in the home that Marion grew up in.

She became a member of First United Methodist Church, Schuylkill Haven.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by granddaughter, Erica Geary, and brother, Norman Haldeman, who passed away at age 8.

Survivors include her loving husband, Carl D. Geary, whom she married on Aug. 28, 1954, as well as three sons, Walter Geary, Hagerstown, Md., Jim Geary and wife, Sharon, Montgomery, and Paul Geary and wife, Janet, Damascus, Md. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a sister, Shirley Miller, Florida; two brothers, Richard Haldeman, York, and Daniel Haldeman, Texas; and nieces and nephews.

Marion's family would like donations in her memory to be sent to First United Methodist Church, 420 Saylor St., Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, Schuylkill Haven, with the Rev. Dr. Christopher Fisher officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church. Interment will immediately follow the funeral at Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.
