Marlin T. Stump, of Pine Grove, passed away Friday, January 19th, at Providence Place Retirement Community, Pine Grove with his wife of 60 years by his side, just a few days shy of his 86th birthday.
Born in Washington Twp., he was a son of the late Abraham & Mildred (Brown) Stump.
Marlin was the husband of Delores (Teter) Stump.
After graduation from Pine Grove High School in 1956, Marlin served as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army.
He was employed by Alcoa, but the majority of his working career was spent as a truck driver for Marlin Ernst, Barry Bashore, & Rick's Backhoe Services.
Marlin was an active member of the Schuylkill Church of the Brethren, Pine Grove, where he had served as a Deacon.
Marlin loved chocolate, ice cream, and a good Hank Williams song. He enjoyed motorcycles and cars, the color red, and baseball, especially the Giants. He hated wearing shorts, the beach, and any water sports. Marlin had an excellent memory for bible verses and baseball statistics. He was a hard worker with incredible work ethics and seldomly missed a day of work. He enjoyed history and Hershey Park and a good car ride! Marlin often didn't know how to show his love, but deeply loved his wife and family.
In addition to his wife, Marlin is survived by two daughters, Sheila, wife of Grayson Krauss, of Pine Grove; Brenda Ebling, of Reading; and a sister, Raedelle, wife of Ronald Sherman, of Pine Grove.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday at Schuylkill Church of the Brethren in Pine Grove. A viewing will be held from 10 AM until the time of services at church. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
The family would like to extend appreciation to the staff of Compassus Hospice, Geisinger St. Luke’s Hospital, and Providence Place for their exceptional care.
At the family's request, memorial donations in Marlin's name may be forwarded to Schuylkill Church of the Brethren, 347 Sweet Arrow Lake Rd. Pine Grove, PA 17963.
