Mary L. Burns, 95, of Pottsville, passed away Wednesday at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg.
Born in Pottsville, May 7, 1919, she was a daughter of the late John A. and Theresa Montag Connell.
She was a graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School and worked as a clerk for Metropolitan Insurance Co.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Pottsville. She was also a member of the Schuylkill Haven Election Board and South Schuylkill Garden Club and was a Red Cross volunteer. She also loved playing bridge and gardening.
She was preceded in death by brothers, George and John Connell.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of 70 years, Francis J. Burns, are a daughter, Mary Ann Bausch and her husband, Frederick T., Pottsville; grandchildren, F. Jesse Bausch and his wife, Donna, Richmond, Va., Rebecca Bausch Burns and her husband, David, Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., and Adam J. Bausch and his wife, Jill Bosack, Tampa, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Max, Jacob Francis and Lenore Bausch and Maddox and Elijah Burns; and a sister-in-law, Mary Connell, Pottsville.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 25 at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg, with the Rev. David L. Loeper officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Oct. 25. At the family's request, memorial donations may be sent to St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 913 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA 17901. Interment will be held privately.
