Mervin Francis Francavage

Mervin Francis Francavage, 90, of Pottsville, passed away Monday, September 24th, at home.

Born in Schuylkill Haven on October 24, 1927, he was a son of the late Andrew J. & Edna (Sterner) Francavage.

He was the husband of 70 years to Anna (Kuziuk) Francavage, whom he married January 4, 1948 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Mervin was a hardworking family man.His wife, children, and grandchildren meant everything to him.

Mervin proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.

He served as past Commander and past Treasurer for Robert B. Woodbury American Legion Post #67, Pottsville.He also played bugle when the American Legion provided military honors for veteran funerals at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

He was a life member of Pottsville Eagles FOE #134, and also belonged to the American Hose Fire Station #70, Pottsville.

He was formerly employed by Ford Motor Company from 1961 to 1987.

In addition to his wife, Mervin is also survived by a son, Robert A. Francavage & wife, Catherine, Reading, & four daughters: Allene Williams & husband, Tom, Tremont, Denise Snyder & husband, Laman, Chandler, AZ, Karen Castillo & husband, Jose, Cunningham, & Annie Tolbard & husband, Bradley, Greensboro, NC.

He is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Robert Francavage, Jr., David, & Benjamin, Francavage, Allicia Mennig, Daniela, Anamaria, & Tony Castillo, Stacie Jaxheimer, Cory Snyder, Corrine Johnson, & Lindsey Nelson, ten great-grandchildren: Lindsey, Darian, Cole, Ema, Taylor, Ryker, Thora, Jeremiah, Katie, & Owen, and a sister, Evelyn Rawls, Tampa, FL.

In addition to his parents, Mervin is also preceded in death by his son, Thomas Francavage, and three brothers: Donald, Gerald, & Joseph Francavage.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 1st.

A viewing will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass.

Interment with military honors will follow mass at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
