Michael “Capt. Mike” J. Breslosky, 75, of Lake Wynonah, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, February 4, with his beloved boys and wife by his side.
Born in Shenandoah in 1949 to the late William and Marie (Kuzma) Breslosky, Mike attended school in Shenandoah and enlisted in the Marine Corps at age 17. He completed basic training, jungle school, and Amtrac training before his tour of duty in South Vietnam. Mike became Amtrac Crew Chief and was honorably discharged as Corporal at the end of his combat duty.
After Vietnam, Mike ventured to Daytona Beach, Florida where he met his future wife, Joyce, in the seafood restaurant where they both worked. The pair eventually put down roots back in Shenandoah and, in 1984, founded Mike’s Seafood, which continues to be owned and operated there by the Breslosky family.
Mike enjoyed teaching his sons to fish, watching them excel at sports, and taking them to Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies games. He loved his sons more than anything and was so very proud of them as grown men. “Once a Marine, always a Marine” certainly applies to Mike, as reconnecting with platoon buddies and fellow Vietnam Veterans later in life provided much camaraderie.
Mike is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joyce (Crone) Breslosky, sons Michael Breslosky Jr. (Shawn Sullivan) and Blaise Breslosky (Celeste), and a granddaughter, Vera. He is also survived by siblings William Breslosky (Ann Marie), Cindi (Ed Shafransky), Rhonda (Albert Karpovich), Angela (Michael Davidson), James Breslosky (Dorothy), Aunt Pat (Kuzma) Kutchins (Uncle Bill, late), nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Mike is also preceded in death by Peter Bresloski, Uncle “Wimpy”.
At Mike’s request, private services will be held at the convenience of his family.
Remembrances in the form of contributions may be made to the Anthony P. Damato American Legion Post #792, 116 N Main St, Shenandoah, PA 17976.
