Mildred M. Mauro, 99, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Wednesday at Rosewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Schuylkill Haven, Aug. 10, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Giuseppe and Lucia Loungo Mauro, who were Italian immigrants.

She was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, and St. Ambrose Sodality.

Mildred was a member of Schuylkill Haven Senior Citizens. She also helped pack meals for the Meals on Wheels program until she was 95 years old.

She was employed by Sol Enterprise until retiring. She then worked in the local garment industry.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mildred was preceded in death by her companion, Carl Eroh; nephew and godson, Anthony Mauro Jr.; sisters, Mary Romano and Viola Tippett; a brother, Anthony Mauro Sr.

She is survived by her caregiver and great-niece, Cynthia Sowers, wife of William, Auburn; nieces, Anna Myers, Orwigsburg, Lucia Boutselis, Cressona, Lucille Blickley, Schuylkill Haven, and Lucille May, Dunn, N.C.; a niece and goddaughter, Mary Louise Slane, Lancaster; great-nieces and -nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Thursday in the church's chapel. Interment will be held privately at the family's convenience. Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc. has been entrusted with arrangements, with cremation services provided by Riverside Cremation Services LLC, both in Schuylkill Haven.
