Patricia Ann (Patti) Freiler, 46, Port Carbon, passed away Thursday, May 28th, while in the company of family members at home.
Patti was born in Pottsville, PA on June 8, 1968. She was the daughter of Catherine E. (Donahue) Oakes, Hegins and the late Donald J. Oakes.
She was the wife of Gerald M. Freiler to whom she was married 21 years.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church Pottsville.
She worked for Kids Peace for over 25 years, currently as the program director.
Patti was the current treasurer of the Schuylkill YMCA Swim Team. She helped coach AAU basketball with her husband Jerry.
She received 4 varsity letters from Marian Catholic High School for basketball and track & field. Patti played for the Mahanoy City CYO state basketball championship team in 1980. She was also a PIAA state champion for Marian Catholic High School Girls Basketball team in 1984, named to the PIAA all state baskeball team in 1985 and in 1990 named a All American NCAA Division 3 in Basketball at Allentown College (Desalles).
She was a graduate of Marian Catholic High School, Class of 1986 and Allentown College (Desalles University) , Class of 1990 with a degree in Criminal Justice.
Patti is also survived by two daughters, Meghan and Morgan Freiler, of Port Carbon; She is also survived by two sisters, Catherine, wife of Christopher Vaul, of West Chester and Mary, wife of Duane Knorr, of Hegins; one brother, Donald Jr, husband of Crystal Oakes of Wilmington NC.
Patti is survived by nieces and nephews, Marissa and Kyle Vaul, Jaylin and Daniel Knorr, Jacob Oakes and Nicole and Ryan Henning. Mother and Father in law Gerald and Jeanette Freiler Ashland and sister in law Mary Ann and her husband Ron Henning Ashland.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at St. John the Baptist Church, Pottsville, PA, at 12 noon on Monday, June 1st, with Father David Loeper officiating.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 1, 2015, 9 am until 12 noon at St. John the Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Patti Freiler Memorial Fund, checks can be made to Freiler Children College Fund and can be dropped of at any Wells Fargo Bank or sent to Jerry Freiler 314 Wilson Ave. Port Carbon PA 17965.
Interment will be at the St. Canicus Cemetary, Mahanoy City
