Paul K. Brown, 93, formerly of Pottsville, passed away Saturday while in the company of family members at Orwigsburg Center, Orwigsburg.
Born in Lykens, May 31, 1922, he was a son of the late Howard F. and Elizabeth V. Barr Brown. Paul was also preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Charles Brown.
He was the husband of Necia L. Owens Brown for 68 years.
Paul served in the Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War.
He was the owner and operator of Brown's Variety Store, West Market Street, Pottsville.
Paul was a member of Phoenix Park Union Church, Minersville American Legion, Marine Corps League, TPA and a life member of DAV. He was also a regular contributor to the WPPA Air Your Opinion show.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four daughters, Karen M. Cuttic, wife of Andy, The Villages, Fla., Elizabeth V. Hallett, wife of Robert, Santee, Calif., Theda M. Brown, Pottsville, and Diann K. Burda, Hazleton; a son, Paul K. Brown II, husband of Christine, Luntz, Fla.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 11:45 a.m. Thursday at Phoenix Park Union Church, with Pastor George Somers officiating. Family and friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment with military honors will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Phoenix Park Union Church, c/o George Somers, 2167 Main St., Pottsville, PA 17901.
