Richard S. Fretz

Richard S. Fretz, 96, formerly of Orwigsburg passed away Sunday, February 19th, at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.

Richard was born in Yellow House, PA on December 13, 1926, a son of the late Edith (Sailer) and Paul  Fretz.

He was the husband of Ruth G. (Houck) Fretz to whom he was married to for 72 years.

Dick was the former owner of the Deutsche House Orwigsburg. He was the trucking and transportation Manager for Maiers Bakery Reading, former manager at Bond Bakery.

He loved his family and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was a member of Orwigsburg Lodge #138, Orwigsburg Eastern Star #424 where he was past Patron, Past President of the High Twelve Club. A former starter at Hidden Valley Golf Course.

Dick is  survived by a daughter, Theresa A., wife of  Bob Haslam, of Port Carbon;  a son, Paul Jonathan, husband of  Andrea L. Fretz, of Birdsboro.

He is also survived by 4 grand children Karin McCabe husband Jason, Kellie Garrett husband Geoff, Alexander Fretz, Sonia Riegner, 3 great grand children Kayla Ege, Kevin Garrett and Emily McCabe

Preceded in death by a sister Helen Yoder, and a brother Floyd Fretz

Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday February 23, 10:30 am at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church Schuylkill Haven with Rev. Msgr. Edward S. Zemanik officiating.

A viewing for family and friends will be held from 9 - 10 am Thursday at Geschwindt Stabingas Ebling Funeral Home Schuylkill Haven. Masonic services will be held at 10 am.
