Robert M. Pope, 94, of Elizabethtown, passed away Tuesday at the Masonic Home, Elizabethtown.

Born in Kingston, Jan. 30, 1923, he was a son of the late Archibald and Sara Evans Pope.

He was the widower of Eleanor M. Staller Pope, who passed away in 2015.

He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II.

A graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1941, he was formerly employed by Aetna Steel; Miller, Whitby and Steidle Architect, Tamaqua; William Major, Architect and Engineers, Bristol.

He was a 50-year member of First United Methodist Church, Pottsville.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Pope, who passed away in 2016.

Robert is survived by two sons, the Rev. Robert A. Pope, husband of Rola, Myerstown, and David R. Pope, Gilbertsville; grandchildren, Eric R. Pope, Bryan M. (Lindsay) Pope and Margaret L. Pope; two great-grandchildren, Carly and Alexander Pope; a sister, Margaret Jones, Forte Fort.

A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, Pottsville, with the Rev. John Wallace officiating. A viewing for family and friends will be held Monday prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. Interment will take place in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. The family request donations to First United Methodist Church, 330 W. Market St., Pottsville, PA 17901.
