Russell A. Herring

May 15, 1920 — February 4, 2015

Russell A. Herring, 94, of Wayne Township, passed away Wednesday at Orwigsburg Center.

Born in Auburn, May 15, 1920, he was a son of the late Alonzo and Katie Faust Herring.

Russ was the widower of Vera Ellen Rhine Herring, who passed away June 13, 1997.

He served in the Army during World War II and was employed by Alcoa in tool and dye repair. He also owned his own electrical business.

Russ was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summer Hill, Auburn.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Verna Herring.

Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Wingert and husband, James, Schuylkill Haven, and Barbara Edington and husband, Brian, New York City; grandchildren, Jacquelynn Baver and husband, Irvin, Pottsville, and Julie Riegel, widow of Robert, Crouse, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Roy Jr. and Victoria Koch, Saint Clair, Justin and Danielle Baver, Pottsville, and Storm and James Riegel, Crouse, N.C.

A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ebling Stabingas Funeral Home, 26 Chestnut St., Cressona, with the Rev. Kathleen Ash-Flashner officiating. A viewing will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in St. John's New Cemetery, Auburn. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Russ's name may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 1185 Summer Hill Road, Auburn, PA 17922 or Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
