Ruthann McDemus, 73, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Wednesday, November 1st, at ManorCare, Pottsville.
Born in Coaldale, PA on March 13, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Boley & Elizabeth (Hughes) Figel.
She was the wife of Donald S. McDemus.
Ruthann was a graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School, Class of 1962, and was formerly employed by Alpha Mills, Schuylkill Haven.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Schuylkill Haven.
Ruthann was the first female fire police to receive Fire Police of the Year award in Schuylkill County.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Irvin Hill, Sr., sister, Virginia Marmas, brother, Frank B. Figel, and sister, Florence Dush.
In addition to her husband, Ruthann is survived by two children: a son, Joseph Hill, Jr. & wife, Jodi, Schuylkill Haven, and Mary Faust & husband, Wayne, Schuylkill Haven, step-children: Maria Dalton & husband, John, Pottsville, Donna Spotts & husband, Joe, New Philadelphia, and Laverne Schaeffer, Schuylkill Haven. She is also survived by a sister, Blanche Morgan, Philadelphia, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and nieces & nephews.
A public graveside service will be conducted at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven, on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Reverend Joseph McDemus officiating.
