Shirley Mae (Jenkins) Tobash

July 31, 1931 — March 23, 2015

Shirley Mae Tobash, 83, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Monday at home.

Born in Pottsville, July 31, 1931, she was a daughter of the late George and Kathleen Jenkins.

She was the widow of Peter P. Tobash II, who passed away Dec. 14, 1998.

Shirley attended Pottsville schools and was formerly employed by local textile factories, as well as Red & White Market.

She was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, and the Schuylkill Haven Senior Citizens. Shirley also volunteered at the Orwigsburg Center.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by step-siblings, Vincent Angelo, Randy Jenkins and Beverly Strausser.

She is survived by three sons, Peter P. Tobash III and wife, Karen, Schuylkill Haven, Dennis Tobash and wife, Lisa, Orefield, and Curtis Tobash and wife, Janine, Schuylkill Haven; grandchildren, Paul, Daniel, Dennis, Andrew, Marc, Angela and Jeffrey Tobash; great-grandchildren, Austin, Jonah and Easton Tobash; nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, with Monsignor Edward S. Zemanik officiating. A viewing will be held from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will follow Mass in St. Ambrose Cemetery. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Shirley's name may be made to St. Ambrose Church Memorial Fund, 201 Randel St., Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.
