Stanley S. Hughes, 96, of Palm Coast, FL, passed away Tuesday, June 25th, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Harrisburg on September 21, 1927, he was the son of the late Arthur & Mary (Shierman) Hughes.

Stanley was the husband of his loving and devoted wife, Phyllis J. (Guidici) Hughes, to whom he was married 51 years. The couple loved to travel. Together they visited 206 countries and have wonderful memories of people and places from all over the world.

After graduating from John Harris High School, Harrisburg in 1944, Stanley attended Eckel's College of Mortuary Science, Philadelphia where he obtained an Associate's Degree.

Specializing in residential construction, Stanley was the owner of Patwil Homes and Hughes Building Company; where he built numerous houses throughout the East Coast.

Stanley was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Homosassa, FL. He taught many Sunday School classes at several churches throughout his life.

A WWII veteran, Stanley served as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army as a military police officer.

Stanley was a 32nd Degree Freemason, philanthropist, and was a member of Harrisburg VFW & American Legion.

He had a love for boating and belonged to the U.S. Power Squadron. He had a passion for taking photos as well, and won multiple ribbons for his art in Photography Club.

Stanley will be greatly missed by his loving wife, family and friends until they are all reunited in heaven for eternity. He was abundantly loved, admired, and respected by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, Stanley is survived by his loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Hughes and sisters, Ethel Knuth, Thelma Dick, Mary Hollenbach, Ardel Kindig, and Margaret Mummert.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven. Interment took place at Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood.

Geschwindt Stabingas Ebling Funeral Home, Inc., Schuylkill Haven, was entrusted with arrangements.
