William C. Best, 81, of Pottsville, passed away Thursday at Reading Health Rehabilitation Hospital, Reading.
Born in Pottsville, July 7, 1934, he was a son of the late Clarence and Gertrude Neidlinger Best.
He was the husband of Barbara A. Tuppie Best, whom he married May 12, 1956.
Bill attended Pottsville schools and served in the Air Force.
He was formerly employed by Yaissle Auto Body, Pottsville, as a delivery driver.
Bill was a member of First United Methodist Church, Pottsville. He also belonged to the Humane Hose Company, Pottsville, and served as past Pack Master for Cub Scout Pack 194.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Robert E. and Thomas J. Best, Betty Mae Carter and Thelma Cazonie.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Barbara J. Best, Pottsville, and Alice M. Huff and husband, Robert, Pottsville; two sons, Robert E. Best, Zion, Ill., and Clarence W. Best, Lebanon; seven grandchildren, Michael Best and wife, Jamie, Rachel, Samuel, and Rebecca Best, and Emily, Christina and Grace Huff; a sister, Ruthann Moore and husband, John, Pottsville; a brother, Clarence W. Best and wife, Mary, Lancaster; a sister-in-law, Pat Best, Lewisburg; nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, Pottsville, with the Rev. John Wallace officiating. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be privately held at the convenience of the family.
