William I. Horn, Sr.

William I. Horn, Sr., 96, of Pottsville, passed away Friday, June 11th, at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.

Born in Pottsville,on August 6, 1924, a son of the late Priscilla Z. (Gauntlett) and Irvin J. Horn.

He was the widower of Beatrice J. (Kreiger) Horn, who passed away July 3, 2011.

He was a member of Salvation Army, Pottsville, where he was the Corps. Sgt. Major.

He was a graduate of Pottsville Area High School, class of 1942. He was previously employed by Aetna Steel from 1946-1969, then Ace Storm Window from 1969-1970 and retired from Penn State University, Schuylkill Campus as the grounds keeper from 1967-2006..

He is survived two daughters, Deborah L. Brown, wife of Chester "Skip," Pottsville, and Sheila Y. Tokonitz, Pottsville; a son, William I. Horn Jr., Schuylkill Haven; grandchildren, Megan Menchefsky wife of Mark, Kevin Brownand his fiancé Linda Dotson, Edward Tokonitz Jr., husband of Gretchen, Keith Tokonitz, husband of Kim, Briana Horn and William I. Horn III; great-grandchildren, Adam, Aidan and Olivia Tokonitz, Tucker Menchefsky, Taylor Dotson and Zuri and Nalah Brown; a sister Lois Puglia, McKeesport; nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at Salvation Army in Pottsville, on Thursday, June 17 at 10:30 am with Envoy Brad Harris officiating.

A viewing for family and friends will be held prior from 9:30 am until the time of the service at The Salvation Army.

At the family's request, memorial donations may be forwarded to Salvation Army 400 Sanderson Street Pottsville, PA 17901 or the Penn State Schuylkill Beautification Project.

Interment will follow at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
