Willys C. "Will" Vannewhyzen

Willys C. "Will" VanNewhyzen, 89, of Auburn, passed away Thursday at his residence.

Born in Leota, Minn., Sept. 11, 1927, he was a son of the late Christian and Della DeJaeger Van Nieuwenhuyzen.

He was the husband of Ruth D. Knuth VanNewhyzen, to whom he was married to for 66 years.

Following high school graduation, Will earned his bachelor's degree from Augustana College and his MBA from Stanford University.

He had worked as a salesman, international representative and credit manager for Kaiser Aluminum for 40 years.

Will belonged to the Summit Station AMVETS and Summit Station Fire Company.

In addition to his parents, Will was preceded in death by sisters, Annetta, Claudine and Eloise.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Kay Kruse and husband, Tod, Hoffman Estates, Ill., and Jean Gill and husband, Steve, Torrance, Calif.; a son, John VanNewhyzen and wife, Karen, Grantville; two grandchildren, Emily Getz and husband, Matt, and Peter VanNewhyzen; a great-grandchild, McKennen Getz; a sister, Twylah Wildung; a brother, Alan Vann and wife, Karen.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven, with Pastor Nelson Reppert officiating. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. The family requests donations in Will's memory to the donor's favorite charity.
