Winifred J. "Alex" Alexander, 73, of Auburn, passed away Sunday, April 13th, at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem.
Born in Bakersfield, CA on June 30, 1951, he was a son of the late Acel Woodrow and Vernell (Carroll) Alexander.
Married 37 years, he was the devoted husband of Robin E. (Kull) Alexander.
Alex earned his Bachelor’s Degree from East Texas College. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, retiring as First Sergeant. Prior to his active-duty career, he also served in Vietnam—an experience that deeply shaped his life and values.
Alex was self-employed for 10 years as the owner/operator of Alex’s Janitorial Service. He also worked as a Senior Counselor for CONCERN in Lehighton, and as a CNA at Hamburg State Hospital, retiring in 2012.
He was a member of Schuylkill Masonic Lodge #138 in Orwigsburg and a life member of Staller-Luckenbill Post #3975 Auburn VFW.
In addition to his parents, Alex is preceded in death by three brothers and one sister: Francis, Acel, Doran, and Roy Alexander.
He is survived by his wife Robin; two sons, Ronnie A. Alexander of Breinigsville, PA, and Jay lee Alexander and wife Heather of Raleigh, NC; his daughter, Vernell Daniels and husband Ryan of Schuylkill Haven; and two grandchildren, Tristan Alexander of Raleigh, NC, and River Daniels of Schuylkill Haven. Alex is also survived by two sisters, Euvonne Terman of Cove, AR, and Myren Alexander of Bakersfield, CA; his brother, David Alexander and wife Ina of Springdale, AR, and his sisters-in-law: Rachel Alexander, wife of Acel, Springfield, AR, and Beverly-Gray Alexander, wife of Doran, Beckville, TX.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, April 18th at First United Church of Christ, Schuylkill Haven. A viewing will be held at the church from 10 AM until the time of service.
Interment with military honors will be held Monday, April 21st at 9 AM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
