Catherine "Sis" Lengel, 92, of Tucson, Ariz., passed away Saturday at Casa de La Luz, Hospice, Tucson.
Born in Pottsville, Aug. 13, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Henry C. and Catherine C. Coates Ost.
She graduated from Pottsville High School in 1941.
She was formerly employed as a clerk at the former Ost & Ost, Pottsville.
Catherine was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Her family and friends will miss her wit, humor and kindness.
She was the wife of the late Robert B. Lengel, and a daughter-in-law of the late D.H.H. Lengel and Ada Lengel.
A brother, Henry Ost, died while serving in World War II.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. Robert H. Lengel, husband of Sandra K., San Antonio, Texas, and James D., husband of Margaret K., Tucson; three grandchildren, Jaime L. Williams, wife of T. Chad, Katherine L. McKnight, wife of Richard W., and Jeffery J. Lengel, husband of Dena P., all of Tucson; six great-grandchildren, Luke and Maggie Williams, Sara and Rebecca McKnight, Julien Earl and Penny Lengel.
A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Friday. Interment will follow in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. At the family's request, memorial donations may be sent to D.H.H. Lengel Scholarship Fund, 1501 Laurel Blvd., Pottsville, PA 17901.
